Chicken 65 is an easy and quick recipe made with simple ingredients. This fiery fried chicken is so incredibly delicious! The very famous South Indian Chicken 65 is one of the popular dishes of Tamil Nadu. It is believed to have originated from Chennai. Chicken pieces are marinated in spices and basic herbs. They are deep fried to perfection and served with fried chillies and curry leaves. Chicken 65 can be served as a tasty appetizer or as a side dish too.

Chicken 65 is spicy and slightly crispy from outside fried chicken. It is a very delicious and yummilicious dish which you can’t resist. This chicken 65 is a family favourite dish and so it is a very regular dish in my home.

Restaurant style chicken 65 is liked by everyone and is easily available at almost every restaurant and fast food centres. You can also call it a quick and easy recipe which you can make at your home with easily available ingredients and enjoy the restaurant style dish.

You will come across a variety of chicken 65 recipes. This hits the restaurant menu in most of the restaurants in south India. With time people started making other non-vegetarian versions like Prawn 65 and vegetarian versions like paneer 65, gobi 65, mushroom 65 etc.

Chicken 65 can be prepared within 40 mins of time including the marination time. It can be prepared in less time by marinating the chicken for less time if you are in a rush or time constraint.

Chicken 65 Recipe Video

Ingredients to make chicken 65:

300 gms Chicken
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 tsp Pepper powder
2 tsp kashmiri red chilly powder
½ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp Coriander powder
½ tsp Garam masala powder
2 tbsps thick Curd or 1 egg
1 tbsp corn flour
1 tbsp rice flour or All Purpose Flour
Salt to taste
2 green chillies chopped
1 sprig curry leaves
1 cup Oil for frying
Onion and lemon slices for serving

How to make chicken 65:

In a mixing bowl add the chicken, ginger garlic paste, pepper powder, kashmiri red chilly powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, Garam Masala powder, corn flour, rice flour, curd, salt to taste and mix well.

Marinate the chicken for at least 20 to 30 mins. The longer the marination the better.

Heat oil in a frying pan.

Fry the green chillies and curry leaves till crisp.

In the same hot oil, lower the heat and drop the marinated chicken.

Fry them over medium heat for 10-12 mins or until golden and slightly crisp from outside.

Serve them with fried green chillies, fried curry leaves, onion slices and lemon slices.

Remove the fried chicken 65 in a bowl or platter.

Toss it with fried green chillies and curry leaves and serve.

  • ½ Cup Oil
  • 2-3 Pieces Green chillies or as per taste
  • 1 Sprig Curry leaves

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl add the chicken, ginger garlic paste, pepper powder, kashmiri red chilly powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, Garam Masala powder, corn flour, rice flour, curd, salt to taste and mix well.
  • Marinate the chicken for atleast 20 to 30 minutes. The longer marination the better.
