About Chicken Leg Fry

Recipe for chicken leg fry made with chicken drumsticks. Chicken is marinated in curd or yogurt, ginger garlic paste and few masala spice powders and fried in minimum oil. The chicken legs should always be marinated for at least half an hour with aromatic spices or herbs to get a tender chicken and also to infused the flavors nicely into the chicken.

This fried chicken drumsticks is my son’s favourite which is quite a regular in my kitchen. It is simple, easy and quick to make and taste delicious. It doesn’t require a fancy equipments and technique to make this fried chicken legs. With just few basic ingredients which are easily available in our kitchen pantry this chicken drumsticks fry can be made at the comfort of our home and devoured.

It is a fried chicken drumsticks recipe with Indian flavours. This fried chicken is lip-smacking with amazing flavors and perfectly spiced with Indian spices. It is mildly spiced and yet very flavorful.

There are various version of chicken leg fry. I myself make a lot of variations and play with flavors and create recipes of fried chicken. This is one of the simplest and easiest recipe which can be easily tried in your kitchen with ingredients which are easily available in your pantry.

Fried chicken is a popular food all over the world and especially the Southern fried chicken. However this recipe is an Indian version since I have used Indian spices. The trick with this recipe is that we aren’t deep frying it, but using a pan to fry it using less oil. This means that it will take longer to cook because we have to flip them over and fry them untill evenly cooked.

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Serves: 2-3

Ingredients to make Chicken Leg Fry:

4 Chicken Drumsticks
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
2 tbsp thick curd
½ tsp Cumin powder
½ tsp Coriander powder
½ tsp Garam Masala powder
1 tbsp kashmiri red chilly powder
½ tsp pepper powder
Salt to taste
¼ – ½ cup Oil for frying
Few lemon slices for serving

How to make Chicken Leg Fry:

Wash the chicken drumsticks and pat dry with kitchen towel. Make 2-3 slashes and keep aside.

In a mixing bowl add all the remaining ingredients except oil and mix well together.

Add the chicken drumsticks in marinade and rub them well with the masala. Keep aside for few mins. The more time the better.

Heat oil in pan. When the oil is smoking hot, simmer the heat and drop the chicken into the oil.

Fry them in medium heat flipping it over occasionally till brown and slightly crisp from outside approximately 15-20 minutes it will take.

Remove the fried chicken in serving platter, squeeze lemon juice and serve with onion rings and chillies or any sauce or chutney of your choice.
