Fish Head With Cauliflower And Potato / Bengali Fish Curry / Light Fish Curry

Simple thin broth like stew seasoned with a melange of a few key spices. A soul satisfying and comfort dish. Fish head cooked in basic spices and masalas with cauliflower and potato. Perfect with piping hot steamed rice.

Fish head with cauliflower and potato is very delectable and inviting dish. It is an easy peasy recipe prepared with a handful of basic ingredients which are easily available in our pantry and also in grocery stores and supermarkets. Without putting much efforts one can easily prepare this and enjoy it.

This is a quick and easy fish curry. There isn’t much of a pre-preparation that you will need to spend time on too. The jhol aka curry is made with minimal spices and that is why it is called as a light curry.

The curry is very scrumptious with the flavour of the fish with cauliflower and potato combined uplifts the flavours of the curry even more making it a mind-blowing and lip-smacking curry.

I love fish head. It’s one of my favourite portion in fish. This combination of fish with potato and cauliflower is delectable and I love this combo since potato and cauliflower are my favourite vegetables. My vegetarian version of potato cauliflower is Potato Cauliflower Curry aka Aloo Gobi Sabji.

As mentioned above this is a easy and simple curry made with limited ingredients. The first ingredients I highly recommend is Mustard oil. Mustard oil adds a rich and deep flavor to your curry. So I would advise to stick to it but if you don’t get mustard oil feel free to use any vegetable oil with neutral flavor like sunflower oil, canola oil etc. Secondly, the fish needs to slightly fried before adding to the curry. This step is important and recommend not to skip this step. Thirdly, Onion is not used in this recipe but you can 100% add onion which makes the curry even more delicious.

● You can use fish pieces instead of fish head.
● You may substitute mustard oil with other oil.
● You can make this curry with paanch phoran i.e. five spice
● You may add onion to the curry.
● You can add other vegetables like peas, cabbage and seasonal veggies.
● You may used any fish but rui aka rohu fish is the one which we like and the best for this curry.

If you love the complex, aromatic and healing flavors of curry, but have never attempted Indian cooking on your own, we encourage and highly recommend you to try this simple, delicious fish with cauliflower and potato curry.
