Pan Seared Pepper Fish is a very simple and easy recipe. It is quick to prepare with just few basic ingredients and taste delicious. I serve the pan seared pepper fish with mashed potatoes. It is a comfort food for me and my family.

Whenever I dont feel like cooking much and wanted to go for something easy and simple yet delicious and soul satisfying I prefer to make this and have a soul satisfying meal.

Preparation time : 10 mins
Cooking time : 10-12 mins
Serves : 3


250 gms Fish fillets
1 tbsp cracked peppercorns
1 tbsp Chilly flakes
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 tbsp Lemon juice
1 tbsp olive Oil or butter
Salt to taste
Salad for serving
Coriander leaves chopped for garnish

For mashed potato:

2 potatoes peeled and chopped
½ cup Milk
1 tbsp butter
Cracked peppercorns for seasoning
Salt to taste


In a bowl add the cracked peppercorns, chilly flakes, ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, salt and mix well.

Take the fish fillets and rub the spice mixture nicely on the fish. Keep it marinated for 5-10 mins.

Take a non-stick pan and add the olive oil.

Layer the marinated fish fillets in single layers.

Pan sear them for 5-6 mins each on both the sides till it is nicely brown. Remove and keep aside.

For mashed potato :

Pressure cook the potatoes with little salt and water for 2-3 whistles.

Once pressure released take the potatoes out in a bowl.

Mashed the potatoes with mortar and pestle.

In a pan on low heat add the butter, milk, salt to taste and cracked peppercorns.

Add the mashed potatoes and fold it gently till it is smooth. It will takes just few mins.

Remove from heat and serve it with the fish fillets garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
