Radish is one the healthiest vegetables so one should include this in our regular diet though many does not savoured this healthy vegetable. Radishes are root vegetables that are exceptionally low in calories and rich in nutrients. It is considered as a powerhouse of nutrients. It acts as a powerful detoxifer. It is good for liver and stomach.

Radishes are rich in ascorbic acid, folic acid, and potassium. They are a good source of vitamin B6, riboflavin, magnesium, copper, and calcium. It is for this reason, radish is known to lower cancer risk, regulate blood pressure and good for asthma and diabetic patients.

You can eat both the roots and greens. Radish greens have more fiber, vitamins, and nutrients than the radish itself. Few vegetable vendors they just trim off the greens and sell only the roots. So next time buy radish with greens or ask your vegetable vendor not to trash away the greens. I love the radish greens and use them in many recipes. The greens are so tasty and gives a lovely crunch. This recipe is prepared only with the radish as I have used the greens for other preparation. I will post a recipe of radish soon which is prepared along with the radish greens.

Radish can be cooked in several ways. Like in South Indian sambar, dal, paratha, salads, soups, stews, stir fry, sabji, veg and non-veg curries etc. In south it is widely used in sambar and poriyal.
