INGREDIENTS USED TO MAKE PEANUT BUTTER
This recipe uses only three ingredients.
● Peanut
● Brown sugar
● Oil
Though sweetner and oil is optional, we have used it for better taste and texture. It yields shiny, smooth, creamy and spreadable peanut butter. You can also add a pinch of salt. Brown sugar can be substituted with honey or maple syrup.
SOME IMPORTANT TIPS AND TRICKS TO FOLLOW WHILE MAKING PEANUT BUTTER
● If you are making crunchy peanut butter, add ½ to ⅓ cup of the roasted peanuts onto the food processor. Pulse 5 to 6 times, or until the peanuts are coarsely chopped. Transfer them to a bowl and reserve for later.
● Preferably use raw shelled peanut, roast them freshly and use them only after removing the skin.
● Roast the peanuts on medium heat and not more than 5 minutes.
● Roast the peanuts only until light browned and smell nutty. Do not burn them. It will completely spoil the taste and colour of the peanut butter
● Stir the peanuts frequently while roasting to prevent from burning and even roasting.
● You can use honey or maple syrup instead of brown sugar.
● Start the processor on low and work your way up to medium, then high. This reduces wear and tear on the motor, and blends everything better.
● Do not pulse the processor for too long. To prevent overheating your machine, process in short intervals of about 30 seconds.
● Press ‘stop’ and scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula midway through processing. This makes sure that anything that gets stuck on the edges of the blender actually gets incorporated
● At the final stage add little oil for a shiny, smooth, creamy and spreadable consistency.

HOW TO STORE HOMEMADE PEANUT BUTTER?
The best way to store peanut butter is in an airtight jar. You can store it in room temperature for atleast a week. For longer duration you need to refrigerate which will go through for several weeks.
If refrigerated before serving you can remove from the fridge and keep it in the counter for few minutes to soften it up so that it spreads easily.
DO I HAVE TO ADD THE SUGAR OR HONEY?
The sugar or honey helps balance out the saltiness of the peanuts. Honey in peanut butter gives a nice texture. but if you want to keep things sugar-free, just opt them out.
