Aloo Pitika

Aloo pitika is a very simple, easy and quick recipe prepared with mashed potato and very minimal ingredients. Ita soilful and comfort food ans is ready in less then 15 minutes.

Equipment

  • pressure cooker
  • mortar pestle

Ingredients
  

  • 3 large potatoes
  • 3-4 green chilly chopped
  • 2 onion chopped
  • few coriander leaves chopped
  • 2 tablespoon mustard oil
  • salt to taste
  • water as required to cook the potatoes

Instructions
 

  • Peel the potatoes, roughly chop them and pressure cook for 2-3 whistles or you can normally cook them in a pot.
  • Drain the cooked potatoes and let it cool down.
  • In a mixing bowl add the potatoes and mash them smoothly.
  • Add the chopped onions, green chillies, coriander leaves, raw mustard oil and season with salt.
  • Mix them well together. Serve it as a side dish with piping hot rice.

Notes

  1. You can cook the potato whole with skin, once cooked remove the skin and mash.
  2. Green chilly can be adjusted as per your heat preference.
  3. The potato need to be cooked nicely from inside out.
  4. If you are not used to the pungency of raw mustard oil, heat the oil till it starts to smoke. Let it cool down and then add to the mashed potato.
  5. King chilly fans can add a bit of finely chopped bhut jolokia. Its amazing!
