Chocolate Vanilla Cake is an eggless cake made with whole wheat flour, butter and sweetened with brown sugar. It is soft, buttery, fluffy, moist, delicious and filled with rich chocolate and vanilla flavor.

I have used whole wheat flour for healthier version. You can use cake flour or all purpose flour. Butter can be substituted with any unflavored oil and brown sugar with regular sugar.

Preparation time : 15 minutes
Cooking time: 35 minutes
Serves : 6

Ingredients :

1 cup Whole Wheat Flour
100 gms butter melted or 1/4 cup Oil
1 tbsp Cocoa powder
1/4 cup Chocolate melted
1/2 cup Brown Sugar
3/4 cup /180 ml Milk
1 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Baking Soda
1 tbsp Vinegar
1 tbsp Vanilla extract
Pinch of salt

Method :

In a mixing bowl sieve the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt for 2-3 times, incorporate them well and keep aside.

In a mixing bowl add the butter and brown sugar, whisk and let the sugar dissolve.

Next add milk, vanilla extract, vinegar and mix well.

Add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and gently fold to make a smooth batter.

Grease a cake pan with oil and preheat oven @180°C for 10 mins.

Divide the mixture into 2 portions. Stir in the cocoa powder and melted chocolate into the mixture in one of the portion. Let the other portion be as it is.

Pour the plain batter into the greased pan and tap 2-3 times to release the air bubbles inside. Over it pour the chocolate batter and tap to release air bubbles.

* At this point if you want you can take a skewer and swirl it around the mixture in the tin a few times to create a marbled effect.

Bake at preheated oven @180°C for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Remove the cake from oven and let it cool down. Invert and slice after the cake is cooled down completely.
